A 20-YEAR-OLD Melksham man has died following a traffic collision between a motorbike and a car in his home town yesterday.
At around 2.45pm on Saturday, a blue Suzuki GSF 600 motorbike was travelling towards Melksham when it collided with a blue BMW 325 car along the B3107 Bradford Road, close to the Countryside Store Roundabout.
The 20-year-old motorcyclist collided with the car, which was leaving business premises close to the roundabout, and as a result died at the scene - the driver was not injured.
The road was closed for approximately six hours, up until around 9pm, whilst specialist officers conducted an examination of the scene.
The motorcyclist's next of kin have been informed but formal identification has not yet taken place.
Officers would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision, especially the drivers of a white, new model, Ford Fiesta and a silver/grey Skoda Octavia taxi who drove past the incident but didn't stop.
Anyone who has any information is asked to contact PC James Trafford on 101, or call Crimestoppers 0800 555 111 where details may be left anonymously if preferred.
