A FOOTBALLER sparked outrage on Twitter by slagging off Swindon after arriving in the town for a charity football match.

Jamie O’Hara probably didn’t win himself any new fans after the tweet he sent last night.

In the tweet, which has since been deleted, he said “Just arrived in Swindon, not the best” with a few crying-laughing emojis and an exhausted emoji.

The former Celebrity Big Brother contestant is in town to play in the Heart/Global Media Make Some Noise fundraising football match at the County Ground tonight with other famous faces like Calum Best and Dean Gaffney.

People weren’t too happy with the former Tottenham Hotspur player and were quick to voice their disapproval online, often with words that we can’t print here.

The ill-advised tweet lead to widespread mockery of the Billericay Town midfielder and his footballing career.

One social media user said he would no longer go to the match because of Jamie’s tweet.

Pat Fagan said: “Think I’ll give this charity match a miss now. Don’t want to pay to see idiots like you.”

Jamie realised his mistake a little bit too late and deleted the tweet this morning after receiving dozens of replies and retweets from annoyed locals.

Two teams of celebrities will face off against each other in a friendly kick-about this evening.

EastEnders star Jake Wood, X Factor star Stevi Ritchie, former TOWIE star Dan Osborne and current TOWIE star s James Argent are some of the other celebs that are also getting their boots on for the big game.

They’ll be hanging around the grounds to meet fans, take selfies and sign autographs.

The game will be hosted by Heart’s breakfast show presenters Ben and Mel.

It’s being held in Swindon for the second year in a row and is supported by Swindon Wildcats and Tree Nightclub.

Earlier this year, the Make Some Noise initiative awarded £41,300 to Swindon Down’s Syndrome Group to help them provide speech therapy.

The local charity for this year’s match is yet to be determined.

Tickets for the match are £7 per person and gates open at 6.30pm tonight for a 7.30pm kick-off.
