AN elderly woman had her handbag stolen by a man claiming to be from an electricity company.
The Bathampton Street resident let the man into her home at around 6.40pm on Monday when he said he was from the electricity board and was assessing the area ahead of works scheduled for Tuesday.
He went into her kitchen, looked in the meter cupboard and then went upstairs.
After he left, saying he would be back shortly, the woman realised that her handbag was missing.
The man was about 40, with dark hair parted in the middle and wearing a yellow fluorescent jacket. Police are not sure whether he had a vehicle.
