COMMUTERS heading into London will face nine days of disruption next month after plans to electrify the railway line were annouced by Network Rail.

The line between Swindon and Chippenham will be closed from Friday, July 8 until Monday, July 17 and ticket holders are being encouraged to check their plans before they travel. 

On July 8, July 9 and July 16, only two trains every hour will run between Bristol Temple Meads and London Paddington with one calling at Swindon, Reading and London Paddington and the other calling at Bath Spa, Reading and London Paddington. 

Buses will replace trains between Bath Spa and Swindon via Chippenham as well as on the Melksham line and buses will also replace trains between Swindon and Chippenham. 

Two trains an hour stopping in the same places will also run from July 10 until July 15 as well as one train an hour between Bristol Temple Meads and Chippenham. 

Westbury services via Melksham to Swindon will start and terminate at Chippenham and buses will replace trains between Bath Spa and Swindon via Chippenham as well as on the Melksham line and buses will also replace trains between Swindon and Chippenham.
