FANS of Lewis Blissett are hoping he’ll charm Pop princess Pixie Lott when he performs one of her numbers for her on The Voice Kids tonight.

The 13-year-old from Old Town, filmed the session several months ago and hasn’t even been able to tell friends how he did.

But whatever the result, he has his sights set on a career in the music industry.

Lewis, who goes to Commonweal School, answered an advert for the show last year. He’s been singing since he was four or five and grew up with music in the family – his mum was a singer.

“It has always been the thing that my life has revolved around. I don’t really know what else I would want to do if I couldn’t sing,” he said.

But the fan of Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber and Demi Lovato is realistic about his chances of a career in the industry. “I would love to be a recording artist obviously, but not everyone makes it.”

Music teacher and head of the expressive and performing arts faculty, Ali Sutcliffe, said: “When you look at Lewis you would be surprised. He is a tiny little guy and you don’t expect the voice that comes out of him. It’s amazingly powerful. He captivates the audience.”

The youngster had already appeared in shows at the school and videos of his performances posted on its Facebook page had scored a huge number of hits.

“He will be a star, will Lewis, regardless of how well he gets on in this particular programme, “ she predicted. “He has such potential.

“He has the support of his family and friends and I know his peer group at school is behind him 100 per cent.”

Lewis is performing Cry Me Out in The Voice Kids on ITV1 at 7.45pm tonight.
