Vegetable growers and talented craftspeople are being sought for the third annual Party in the Parks event later this summer.

Event organisers Swindon Restore are looking for individuals or groups interested in hiring a stall for the Whitbourne Avenue fayre.

Party in the Parks, which has been running for three years, is intended as a celebration of Parks – bringing residents in the area together for a day of family fun.

Sam Rawlings, deputy manager at charity Swindon Restore, said: “It’s about raising awareness and community spirit in the area. Parks gets a bad press from time to time.

“We want to show that good things do happen in the Parks. It’s a chance for everyone to get together.”

The free event will boast a bungee-rope trampoline, bouncy slide, karaoke, food and craft stalls.

Organiser Sam Rawlings, 34, said that they are still looking for people interested in buying a stall to sell their wares. Stalls cost £5.

Produce that has done well in the past, she said, were “things that people are producing themselves.” This year they have already booked stallholders selling cakes and items created from scrabble tiles.

Party in the Parks will be at St John’s Church Hall, Whitbourne Avenue, on Saturday August 26, 11am to 5pm. For more, visit: www.facebook.com/events/592407304289896.
