A WORLD title and a European title are up for grabs at a big fight night in Chippenham next weekend which is expected to attract more than 1,000 people.

The bill for the ‘Mallimania’ open air festival in Monkton Park features 22 bouts with no less than five kickboxing title belts on offer, including the world title for Women’s Youth Kickboxing.

The festival on Saturday, 8 July takes place from 6pm to 10.30pm and has been organised by Spartan Gym co-owner, Carl Mallinson, the current World WCA Kickboxing Champion.

Carl is the co-owner and head of the Spartans boxing/kickboxing gym in Chippenham and he has long held an ambition to run a spectacular open air fight festival to raise funds for the Wiltshire-based Help the Heroes charity.

Carl said: “This show will be the biggest type ever of its kind to be staged in the open air in the South West and features a full card of top quality fighters of all ages, weights and experience. Title belts have also been thrown down including a world title belt for female youth kickboxing.”

To add to the mix there will be two bouts dedicated to veteran soldiers who have been in training with Carl to put on a good performance to help raise not only awareness but also funds for Help for Heroes.

The show will be staged with lighting and music under the umbrella of a state-of-the-arts big top which is designed to maximise the electric atmosphere which the organisers hope to create on the night.

More than 1,000 boxing and kickboxing enthusiasts are expected to watch the fights, all of which will have two-minute rounds.

Carl added: “I’m hoping to build the event year-on-year to become the biggest mixed martial arts festival in the country.”

Whole families train together at the Spartan Gym, pushing themselves to achieve their goals, whether be it to become a fighter or to simply get and keep fit. They have access to professional trainers with a wealth of knowledge in fitness, strength, endurance and nutrition.

Tickets for the festival, at £40 for Gold, £35 for Silver and £25 for standing, can be bought by calling the reservation line on 01249 444354. Food and refreshments will be available at the event.
