POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a burglary at the Staverton Convenience Store in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Wiltshire Police said they received a call shortly after 7am this morning to report of a burglary at the store in Meadow Court Drive.

The owner was unwilling to comment at this stage but it is understood that cash and cigarettes were stolen in the raid.

It is believed the premises were broken into between 2am and 7am via a back door. Officers are at the scene and enquiries are continuing.

Anyone who witnessed or heard anything suspicious in the area during this time should call police on 101.
