A PAIR of Swindon businesswomen are hoping to boost their brand following a recent visit from the vice president of eBay UK.

Melissa Burton and Clare Haines, joint directors of the Lingerie Outlet Store, based in County Business Park, last week received eBay VP Rob Hatterell as part of a programme which sees Rob get hands-on at some of the company’s biggest suppliers.

Clare, who launched the company in 2009, said: “It was great to welcome Rob and to show him around. He had a wealth of knowledge on warehousing which we will certainly put to good use.

“We are a very commercial business and eBay has started using us to do a lot of PR work, which we are really pleased about.

“He was very interested in us as a business and supportive of what we are trying to do.”

Rob’s focus at eBay UK is to support the businesses who sell with the web-based company. In his first 100 days at the company he visited 50 sellers, and meeting Clare and Melissa was one of the visits planned as part of this continuing tour.

He said: “I want to offer a personal thank you to the many sellers I have met so far. Learning from them has been my top priority since I arrived, and I’ve spent a good deal of time on the road in sellers’ warehouses, offices and homes, understanding how we can help.

“Going forward I want to make sure that every person working at eBay in the UK is completely customer focused in their approach. We’re going to do that by going out to meet buyers and sellers at every opportunity and getting their thoughts on what we are doing.

“I want everyone who works here to meet our customers and to bring back what they learn and to use that feedback in their work every day.”

The multi-million pound lingerie firm, which was named a Wiltshire Business Award winner in 2011, is not just en eBay-based business, but operates on Amazon and through their website as well.

Clare said the company had grown 2,000 per cent in the last two years, and she and Melissa are very keen to inspire others.

She said: “We want to go into schools and talk to pupils to show them what you can do with a bit of hard work.

“We are both competitive and ambitious women and the world is our oyster.”
