Welsh rockers the Stereophonics are playing Swindon’s Oasis Leisure Centre on Wednesday night, with 25 years’ worth of fan favourites sure to entertain the sell-out crowd.

The former Glastonbury headliners will pack out the 3,000-capacity venue, with fans of all ages swarming to see the Mid Glamorgan group, whose hits include UK number one Dakota, Maybe Tomorrow and Handbags and Gladrags.

With nine studio albums – six of them having reached number one, including the 5x Platinum Just Enough Education To Perform – among their repertoire, the Stereophonics arrive in Swindon as part of a week taking in the length of the country, from Plymouth to Penrith.

Founded in 1992, in the Welsh village of Cwmaman, where singer Kelly Jones and former drummer Stuart Cable lived on the same street, it was five years before the band released their first album Word Gets Around. It went 3x Platinum as the band shot to stardom, with each of their next five albums peaking at number one – they have sold over 10 million worldwide.

Their live credentials were established through headline performances at Reading and Leeds in 2000, Glastonbury in 2002 and the Isle of Wight festival in 2004 and 2009.

In 2016, the Stereophonics, now made up of lead singer Kelly Jones, guitarist Adam Zindani, bassist Richard Jones and Jamie Morrison on drums, embarked on a tour of Europe. Following gigs in Ireland, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, France and Portugal, they headed to Far East, where they performed in China, Japan and South Korea.
