Children have been showing their creative flare at the fifth year of the annual St James' Church holiday club.

This year the club has been named Showstoppers, as the children have been exploring the theme God's Big Plan through acting and other arts.

The Church itself was converted into a giant theatre in which the whole Bible story from Creation to Jesus was acted out over the four days.

The children also took part in other activities such as arts and crafts, singing and team games.

Katie Jackson, Children's and Families' worker at St James' said: "The week has been absolutely brilliant, with the children showing lots of enthusiasm.

"This year we have seen more children than ever come to the club and it's lovely to have so many children coming along from families who we've got to know over the years.

"It's also great for the helpers as we get a from seeing the children having so much fun."

This is the first year that the club has been held at the Church itself, since outgrowing Church Hall.

Thanks must be given to the enthusiastic team of 25 volunteers who ran the club, many of whom have been involved for several years.
