TV COMIC Bill Bailey rounded off his 100 mile charity walk along the historic Ridgeway today.

The Bath-born comedian, who was spotted at Indian restaurant The Burj in Wanborough, is walking in honour of his late mother Madryn, who died of cancer in 2005.

Part of Bill’s mission is to increase public awareness and raise funds to treat the disease.

He told BBC Wiltshire this afternoon: “People think: I’m walking, that’s easy, isn’t it? But when you’re walking a distance, it’s tough. You walk 15 or 16 miles a day and then you have to get up and do it all again the next day. That’s tough and your body starts to take its toll, with the odd blister and aching limb.

“But the camaraderie and all the people have really kept my spirits up.”

Bill, 53, has been making his way across the countryside around Swindon and Wroughton during the walk in aid of Stand Up To Cancer, which supports clinical trials and other projects.

Speaking ahead of his Swindon visit, he said: “It’s a long old way. But my family, best friends, a huge flask of tea and the stunning sights along the way will get me through.”
