A BLOOMING marvellous day was had by more than 1,000 horticultural fans at the 40th anniversary of the Sutton Veny Flower Show.
Fruit, vegetable and flower competitions were some of the main events at the Memorial Fields on Saturday with MP Andrew Murrison presenting prizes for the best produce.
Other activities included a dog show, cake baking, flower arranging, raffle, skittles, coconut shy and ice cream stalls.
Andrew Lane, who is a member of the flower show committee said: "It went extremely well. Summer had arrived for one day. We had a larger number of entries then we have ever had before with more then 1,000 exhibits.
"It is one of the longest running flower shows and we are very proud that it is doing so well."
Profits from the show, which are expected to be around £1,500, will be put back in to the main four villages that host the event, including Sutton Veny, Norton Bavant, Bishopstrow and Titherington.
A London auctioneer was available to value people's antiques and collectables and a raffle with plane flights also making up part of the day's entertainment.
Mr Murrison, the newly appointed Shadow Defence Minister, said; "The Flower Show is always a very popular, traditional and much loved event that is renowned not just in Sutton Veny itself but for miles around."
A barn dance organised by Friends of Sutton Veny School completed the celebrations of local produce and summer festivities.
