THE Stratton St Margaret Parish Council have officially launched their crowdfunding page to help fund the library in Beechcroft Road.

The parish council’s intention is “to raise funds to bring our community library back to life, with new books, resources and to make it a community hub”.

It follows the council’s acquisition of the Upper Stratton library from the borough council earlier this year.

Tracy Predeth, clerk to the parish council, said: “Swindon Borough Council have awarded us this opportunity to run the library on an annual service level agreement. We have a year to prove this can work, but of course we need to make it a place people want to go.

“We wish to purchase new books, resources and make it a fresh, comfortable place that everyone wants to be.

"We have a year to turn it around and make it a success. We have a huge community backing with a team of volunteers, so the hard work is practically done.”

The aim is to raise £10,000 in eight weeks to make the library a success.
