A Pinehurst bookmakers had over £500 stolen, in a robbery which has led police to release images in an appeal for witnesses.

An unknown male entered the Ladbrokes unit on Clive Parade at just after 5pm on September 19.

He demanded money from a member of staff behind the counter, who handed over £550 from the till.

The suspect then left the store towards the rear alleyway of the row of shops.

The member of staff was shaken but not injured.

Police have now issued CCTV pictures of a man wearing a jacket with the hood up, jeans and white trainers.

Det Con Tom Turner said: “If you recognise the clothing this person is wearing, or perhaps the person themselves, please come forward.

“This part of town would have been very busy at this time of the afternoon - someone must have seen something.

“Also, if you heard or saw anything suspicious in this area, at this time, please contact us.”

It is thought that armed units, specialist police drone officers as well as detectives from Swindon CID were at the scene after the incident.

Anyone with information should call DC Tom Turner at Swindon CID on 101 or anonymously, via Crimestoppers, on 0800 555 111.
