A 32-year-old man has been jailed for a total of 56 days after breaking his suspended sentence order by stealing a torch and some meat.

Michael James, of Netherton Close, pleaded guilty to stealing the items when he appeared at Swindon Magistrates' Court.

He stole a torch from a woman on October 5 and the took meat worth £86.27 from a Co-op on October 1.

For the latter offence, he was also ordered to pay £115 to fund victim services.

His suspended sentence was originally imposed a week earlier after James pleaded guilty to a series of theft offences

Mark Howe, 31 of Yersin Court has been disqualified from driving for 17 months after he was caught drink driving in Faringdon Road on September 10. 

The 31-year-old, who recorded a reading almost twice the drink-drive limit, was told to pay £442 after pleading guilty at Swindon Magistrates' Court.

A Royal Wootton Bassett man who admitted drink-driving has been disqualified. 

Liam Maunder, 21 of Betjeman Avenue was caught with 63mcg of alcohol in 100ml of breath on September 9. The legal limit is 35mcg. 

Maunder was disqualified for 17 months and told to pay £322.

A Lyneham woman has denied using racially threatening or abusive words or behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress at Great Western Hospital last November.

Deborah Sarah Pittel, 53, of Britainnia Crescent, appeared before Swindon magistrates and her case was adjourned until November 1 to allow for a case management hearing.

Karol Janicki, 53, of Colebrook Road, was given a £120 fine after admitting to speeding on Oxford’s Botley Road on December 25 last year. 

He was also handed three points on his driving license and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £30.

He was fined £120, given three points on his driving license and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £30.

An Oxford man was banned from driving and faces a curfew after failing to give a blood sample to police. 

Charlie Joseph Bernard Silver, 26, of Upper Fisher Row, pleaded guilty to refusing to give a blood sample to police when he was stopped in Swindon last month. 

Magistrates handed him an 18-month driving ban and ordered he wear an electronic tag for three months, placing him under a nighttime curfew.

He was told to pay a victim surcharge of £85 and court costs of £85. 
Silver was also fined £250 after pleading guilty to failing to surrender to Swindon Magistrates' Court on September 27.

Kevin Peter Wolton, of The Mountings, Wroughton, denied breaking the terms of a restraining order banning him from visiting a road in Park South, Swindon.

He was bailed until November 1, when he will be tried at Chippenham Magistrates' Court.
