A MANNINGTON rail bridge was the scene of two accidents in one day.

During the Wednesday rush hour, a DPD delivery lorry driver shaved the roof from his truck after attempting to drive beneath the Wootton Bassett Road rail bridge.

Just four hours later police were again called to scene.

Officers were called at 7.30pm to reports of a three-car collision underneath the bridge.

The road was blocked by the crash, which involved a black Mercedes C220, a grey Audi TT and a blue Ford Focus. Police cleared the road by 8.20pm.

During this second crash the bridge was not struck and Network Rail said that the accident did not affect the train timetable.

In both incidents the drivers managed to escape without injury.
