CARERS will be asked for their views on a new council-backed Carers Strategy.

The strategy follows an assessment of carers' needs published by the council earlier this year.

Carers can also ask questions of a range of local groups at a meeting later this month.

Organisations, including the council and clinical commissioning group, will attend the event - held to mark Carers Rights Day.

Set up by Swindon Carers Centre, the day will see guest talks by both Swindon MPs and council representatives.

Susanna Jones, Swindon Carers Centre chief executive, said: "It is vital that carers have their expertise and voice recognised and heard to influence the development of services for carers in Swindon.

"Carers Rights Day is a great way to raise awareness of the work the 21,000 unpaid carers in Swindon do, and to ensure they can directly speak with health and social care leaders in the town."

The Carers Rights Day event is on Friday, November 24, from 10:30-2.30pm at the Pilgrim Centre, Regent Circus. It is open to carers.

To register your interest in attending, email carers@swindoncarers.org.uk or call 01793 531133.
