Swindon magistrates imposed a 16-week suspended prison sentence on Ryan McCombie, of St Michael's Close, after he was found guilty of two assaults on a woman.

McCombie, 21, was also ordered to do 120 hours of unpaid work and made the subject of a restraining order preventing him from contacting the woman in any way over the next two years.

The bench, sitting on November 15, also instructed him to pay £300 in compensation to the victim, £300 in prosecution costs and £115 towards victim services. The jail sentence was suspended for 18 months.

A thief was fined £50 after pleading guilty to stealing perfume from Boots in Swindon.

Matthew Farmer, of no fixed abode, stole the £54 bottle on November 17.

Farmer was also ordered to pay £30 to victim services.

A 41-year-old man from Swindon has been remanded on bail after pleading not guilty to breaking a restraining order.

Robert Roberts, of Bath Road, is accused of being within 100 metres of an address and trying to contact someone on November 16 despite being prohibited from doing so by a restraining order.

He will be on bail until his trial at Chippenham Magistrates' Court on January 18. He must live and sleep at his address until his next court appearance.

Skye Gray-Lovack was given a nine-month conditional discharge by Swindon magistrates on Monday after she pleaded guilty to assaulting another woman on June 26 by beating her.

The 18-year-old of Albany Close had previously denied the allegation. She was told to pay prosecution costs of £50 and a contribution to victim services of £20.

Magistrates imposed a six-week suspended prison sentence on a man who was caught driving while disqualified in Cavendish Square.

Jenner Araujo, 21, of Haydon Street, was spotted on June 11 at the wheel of a VW Passat.

Swindon magistrates, sitting on November 15, also heard he had no insurance. He pleaded guilty to both charges and was told the sentence would be suspended for 12 months. The bench also banned him from driving for 23 months and ordered him to pay £200 in court costs and victim surcharge.

Steven Bremner was handed a 12-month motoring ban after he admitted being over the drug limit when he drove an Audi in Purley Road, Swindon on August 22.

Bremner, 22, of Antony Road, pleaded guilty to the charge and to breaking the 30mph speed limit.

At a hearing on November 15 Swindon magistrates also fined him £120 and told him to pay £85 in court costs with £30 towards victim services.

A man who stole epilators worth almost £250 from Boots in Brunel Plaza on November 9, was given a conditional discharge for six months by Swindon magistrates six days later.

Kelvin Crook, 44, from Warneford Close, Toothill, admitted the allegation and was ordered to pay £85 in court costs and a £20 contribution towards victim services.

The driver of a Jaguar car stopped in Fleming Way on October 28 was over the drink-drive limit, Swindon Magistrates' Court was told.

Vichente Stefanescu, 27, of Twickenham Close, was banned from driving for 17 months at the hearing on November 15 after he admitted the charge. He was also fined £419 and told to pay £41 towards victim services with £85 in court costs.

Katy Cuthbertson, of Castleview Road, Chiseldon, admitted carrying out the assaults on November 29.

A man who damaged three cars and carried out an assault on October 28 has been ordered to do 150 hours of unpaid work as punishment.

Krystian Jackowski, 22, of Curtis Street, admitted the charges when he appeared before Swindon magistrates on November 15.

The bench told him to do the work within 12 months and ordered him to pay a total of £320, including £150 in compensation.

Magistrates refused an application to replace a requirement for Simon James Smith, 42, of Clive Parade, to attend a thinking skills programme with a four-week curfew. Smith appeared before Swindon Magistrates' Court on November 13.

A curfew placed on Katrina Michelle Thomas, 24, of Percy Jefferies Court, has been lifted by Swindon magistrates, following a “significant change in circumstances”.

It was replaced with 10 rehabilitation activity days.

Charlene Wesley, 28, of Thames Avenue, was placed under curfew after breaching a previous community order.

The earlier order was made by magistrates last August after Wesley was convicted of theft.

Wesley admitted breaching the order by failing to attend a probation appointment.

Swindon magistrates made a new community order, placing Wesley under a nightime curfew for six weeks.

Raymond Alfred Light, 65, of Charles McPherson Gardens, pleaded guilty to using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour towards a woman, which caused her to believe that violence would be used or provoked.

He was given a 12-month conditional discharge and told to pay a victim surcharge of £20 and court costs of £85.

Lewis Paul Turner, 24, of Castle View Road, Chiseldon, pleaded guilty to possession of heroin and failing to surrender to the court. 

He was fined £100 by Swindon magistrates on November 10 and told to pay a victim surcharge of £30 and costs of £85.
