FRIENDS of a Pewsey woman who has cystic fibrosis and needs a double lung transplant have announced that they raised £5134.50 for charity by trekking along the Ridgeway.

Two friends of Pewsey local Emma Harris, who is in urgent need of a double lung transplant, took part in the three day trek in April to raise money for Live Life Give Life and the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

Caroline Dale, of St John's Close, Pewsey, and her brother Richard Dyer carried out the challenging 87 mile walk from Ivinghoe Beacon, Buckinghamshire, to Overton Hill in the Marlborough Downs to encourage more people to register as an organ donor.

Mrs Dale thanked all their supporters for helping them raise over £5,000 in support of Mrs Harris.

Speaking after the fundraiser, Mrs Dale said: "We were joined by different friends on stages of the journey which was lovely. It was wonderful to see Emma at the end for the picnic, she was so grateful and I am so grateful to the people that have donated and hopefully more people will sign up for the register donor so Emma can get that transplant she needs."

Mrs Harris, of Raffin Lane, said: "The walkers did really well and the picnic was just wonderful."
