Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is a new pantomime written by well known faces on the local theatre scene, Swindon's own Tina and Rob Burbidge.

Sally Parker, from the Wroughton Amateur Dramatic Society, said: "This is a very funny script and the cast have had a lot of fun in rehearsals.''

WADAMS will be marking its golden anniversary in 2018, as the drama company was set up on June 1 1964.

Over the years the community theatre has tackled drama, comedy, farce and musicals but these days is best known for its Christmas shows.

Sally said: "There are usually two main productions a year, with three performances, a play in the summer and a pantomime.''

The very first panto was staged in 1975 and they are usually written by members of the company. Young ones are welcome to join WADAMS as they have a junior section which tackles shows of their own.

The actors have won awards in the annual Harold Jolliffe One Act Play Festival and they hold inhouse training sessions to encourage new members to have a go at treading the boards.

Sally said: "We all get involved in every aspect of putting on a production, set construction, costumes, front of house and publicity but it is not all work. We hold a barbecue each year and enjoy skittles evenings and a Christmas dinner after panto.''

Snow White is at the Ellendune Community Centre, Wroughton on Saturday, December 9 at 2.30 and 7pm and on Sunday, December 10 at 2.30pm.
