A Man with a gun licence shooting on private land caused panic on New Year's Day which ended with armed police officers being called to a field on the outskirts of West Lavington near Devizes.
The officers were called to land near the former Chocolate Poodle pub at lunchtime on Monday but realised they were not needed. A police spokesman said: "As a precaution and based on information provided, armed officers attended the scene. Enquiries were carried out and it was confirmed a registered licenced firearms holder had permission to be shooting on private property in the area.”
