Fire crews tackle garage hazard

By Benjamin Parkes

FIRE crews from Warminster had to deal with asbestos and a gas cylinder at a garage fire in Upton Lovell earlier today.

Two fire engines went to the household garage in Up Street, Upton Lovell, at midday.

The garage was destroyed by the fire and there was a small amount of asbestos involved. Fire crews took all precautions to prevent the fumes from getting out of control.

A gas cylinder in the garage did not explode and fire crews are still cooling it by dousing it in water.

In all, four sets of breathing apparatus were used, three hose reel jets and one hydrant. The cause is being investigated by fire officers.
