A man who is serving a life sentence for murdering his partner is standing trial charged with repeatedly raping another woman.

And Anthony Porter is also accused of stubbing out a cigarette on the woman's face when she asked him not to smoke near her.

The 33-year-old, formally of Rodbourne, denies the allegations saying he never assaulted her and any sex was with her consent.

Christopher Stopa, prosecuting, told Swindon Crown Court that the complainant had known Porter as they hung about together in a group when they were teenagers.

He told the jury she was afraid of him, adding that she hadn't told anyone about what she had been through until after he was arrested for the killing.

"The defendant is currently serving a sentence of life imprisonment for the murder of his partner; Andraya Lyons," Mr Stopa told the court.

In a video recorded interview the woman, now in her thirties, told the jury of eight men and four women how he repeatedly raped her.

On one occasion she said she had gone to his flat when he put a heavy dumbbell weight on her throat and then forced himself on her.

She said that he was a heavy drinker and had been on an all day session in the pub before that incident.

Porter denies three counts of rape, one of which is a multi incident count alleging it happened on at least two occasions, and actual bodily harm.

All of the offences are said to have taken place before March 24, 2014. The case continues
