TOMORROW is the final day for people to have their say on the government’s consultation on the future of the GWR franchise.

Over the last two months, Covingham and Dorcan councillor Dale Heenan has been urging commuters to help shape the future of the GWR.

He said: “It is crucial that local residents send their views in to the government to make their voice heard. Swindon must not be forgotten.”

Commuters from Swindon to London saw a 3.6 per cent increase in their season ticket prices from the start of this year, amounting to over £300.

This stems from an historic distortion in prices which means Swindon’s fares are disproportionately expensive, said Coun Heenan, who hopes the consultation will correct this.

“This is our one chance for change in the next 15 years,” he said. To complete the official survey, log on to www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/RJ00Y/.
