TODAY is the final day to vote for the Health Hydro to receive a £200k grant from Persimmon.

Swindon swimming clubs have teamed up in a bid to win the money against fierce competition from 29 other sports clubs across the country.

If their bid gets the most votes, the grant would go towards repairing the small pool in the Hydro which was used to teach youngsters how to swim.

The pool closed in 2016 after managers GLL and Swindon Borough Council deemed repairs too costly.

The reopening of the small pool could see the scaling up of learn-to-swim programmes at the town centre leisure centre.

The Swindon Dolphins, Tigersharks and Amateur ASCs all want the pool to be repaired.

Diane Lee, Tigersharks ASC chairman, said: “The longevity of Milton Road is vital to the future of swimming in Swindon."

Andrea Christmas, Swindom Amateur ASC president, said: "The pool is sorely-missed, it's by far the best training pool in the area.
