MISSING out on her school prom night hasn't stopped Jasmine Yavuz earning the title of Miss Galaxy Swindon after dazzling judges with her star quality.

UK Galaxy Pageants, which runs an assortment of pageant events across the country, have sent the local competitor into the national final, which is to be held at the Park Hall Hotel in Lancashire later this month.

She said of her entry into the final: “It’s amazing, but I’m nervous.”

The UK has recently seen major successes in the Galaxy International Pageant with eight victories to date, and the new Miss Swindon star is dreaming of making it to the international final held in Florida this year.

But first she will have to impress UK judges by modelling a selection of dresses, as well as a swimsuit, while sharing the stage with other glamorous finalists.

Having missed out on her prom night at school, she is “excited” to finally model her prom dress at the competition, despite the rude 5am awakening for make-up styling on the day of the event.

Twenty-four-year-old Jasmine hopes to raise awareness for two different causes in her rise to stardom, including The Christie charity, which supports NHS patients and hospitals, as well as the Helping Hands group in Swindon, which provides sleepers with emotional support and provisions.

Particularly close to her heart is the Helping Hands group, where she will be looking to help homeless people in their quest for clothing, housing and work.

She told the Adver: “They need all the help they can get so please message them on their Facebook page to donate any items you feel will help the homeless, or even offer to volunteer.”

Jasmine had her sights on the Miss Galaxy competition since missing out on the title of Miss Curvaceous. It was that moment that gave her the motivation to lose four stone and come back fighting.
