YOUNGSTERS at Devizes School turned reporter for the day as they took part in a BBC initiative aimed at getting young people thinking about how news affects them.

Pupils from Year 8 took part in the BBC's School Report on Thursday as the library became a newsroom for the day.

Among the stories written were ones on snow disruption, football, theatre productions and World Book Day,

The children interviewed other pupils and staff, made films and edited stories before they were uploaded to the school report site on the BBC website.

English teachers Becky Robinson and Bethan Mills co-ordinated the day.

The BBC is also hoping other young people will get involved by taking part in an interactive iReporter game which cane be downloaded from its website.

It is aimed at youngsters aged from 11 to 18 and gives them the chance to take on the role of a journalist in a BBC newsroom and to spot fake news.
