THE Mucklowe twins who took the mickey out of Swindon in their hit mockumentary This Country, have won three awards from the Royal Television Society.

Daisy May Cooper and her brother Charlie, who came up with idea for the rural comedy featuring Kerry and Kurtan Mucklowe, went home with the comedy writer, scripted comedy and comedy performance awards on Tuesday night.

The series, which is part-way through its second season on BBC3, follows the lives of the hapless pair in a typical Cotswold village. Filmed in Northleach, it had a gentle dig at Swindon College when Kurtan’s character decided to pursue romance rather than a GNVQ in Health and Social Care.

Daisy and Charlie, who went to Deer Park School, still live in Cirencester.

Other winners included Planet Earth II, which took the science and natural history award, Rio Ferdinand Being Mum and Dad won the single documentary and Coronation Street regained the soap and continuing drama title.

The first series of This Country has been watched more than four million times on BBC iPlayer.
