TWO men have been arrested in Chippenham after they failed to stop for police and led them on a high-speed car chase.

Police chased the men, who are both in their 20s and from London, through Lacock and Chippenham, after they refused to stop for police in their silver Audi A3 in Melksham earlier today.

During the chase, the Audi crashed into a car along Forest Road and the pair tried running away from police in Queens Crescent, Chippenham.

Drugs, cash and a knuckle duster were seized from the car and the men, who were found nearby, were arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop for police, possession of Class A drugs and an offensive weapon.

They were taken to Melksham custody where they remain.

PC Simon Margetts, of the Dedicated Crime Team, said: “This vehicle was driven dangerously from Melksham to Chippenham, colliding with one car and even being driven the wrong way round a roundabout which could have caused a serious collision. It is fortunate that nobody was injured as a result.

“Two men found in the area after the vehicle was abandoned have now been arrested and our enquiries are ongoing.”

Anyone who witnessed the vehicle being driven from Melksham to Chippenham should call police on 101.
