CLEAR skies provided the perfect conditions for a Marlborough teenager to jump out of a plane and take part in a sky dive for charity.

Former St John’s academy pupil Nick Moore is currently studying history at the University of Birmingham but took a trip home to Marlborough to visit his family and throw himself out of a plane for a good cause.

Mr Moore was aged just seven and 12 when his mum Claire Page was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2007 and again in 2012.

He was inspired to take part in the adrenalin-fuelled challenge after watching his mum go through cancer treatments and raised £645 for Cancer Research UK.

Mr Moore, 18, grew up near Minal and said: “My mum has a fear of heights herself so she wasn’t too happy about me doing it at first, but she came on the day and watched me.

“It was really exciting and not as frightening as I thought it would be.

“I was a bit nervous but for a once in a lifetime experience it was brilliant.”

The jump took place near Salisbury on April 20.
