COURT: Shoplifter Ryan Taylor was ordered to have treatment for drug dependency after he pleaded guilty to stealing alcohol valued at £60 from the Co-op on March 14.

Taylor, 35, of Boldrewood, Liden, was given a six-month community order by Swindon magistrates and told to pay £60 compensation to the store along with £85 towards victim services.

COURT: Patrick Connors was given a conditional discharge for 18 months by magistrates in Swindon after he admitted assaulting a woman on February 27. The defendant, 36, of Somerville Road, Walcot, also pleaded guilty to possessing cannabis, for which he was fined £50. He was also ordered to pay £30 to help fund victim services and £85 court costs.

COURT: Three men accused of kidnapping a teenager in Swindon last November are to face trial at Crown Court.

Francis Koroma, 23, of Coronation Square, Reading, is charged jointly with Conor Stacey and Daniel Dowling, with taking the youth and carrying him away against his will and assaulting and detaining him unlawfully.

Koroma, Stacey and Dowling are charged along with Jamie Bullen and Callum Barlow, with two counts of maliciously causing him grievous bodily harm

Koroma also faces charges of having a hand gun with intent to commit kidnap and having an imitation hand gun in his possession at a house in Downton Road, Penhill with the intention of causing the victim to believe violence would be used on him.

A pre-trial hearing is set for Friday.
