Driver banned

COURT: A man who drove without a licence and with cannabis in his possession has been banned from the roads for 12 months.

George Obasi, 25, of Summers Street in Swindon, pleaded guilty to the driving and drug possession offences at Swindon Magistrates Court.

The offences occurred on April 8 on Great Western Way.

He was told he must carry out 60 hours of unpaid work and pay £85 in costs plus £85 to victim services.

Breath tested

COURT: A drunk-driver who was more than twice the alcohol limit has been disqualified from driving for 23 months.

David Price, 61, of Limes Avenue in Swindon drove along that street on March 31.

A breathalyser test revealed that he had 95 microgrammes of alcohol in 100ml of his breath, the limit is 35 microgrammes.

Price was fined £300 and must pay £85 in costs plus £30 to victim services.

Pawned ring

COURT: A 50-year-old man who pawned a woman’s ring without her knowledge must pay her £525 in compensation.

Matthew Thompson, of Brow Cottage in Woodborough, who sold the ring on June 19, admitted a charge of fraud.

He was also instructed to pay £85 in costs.

Car park crash

COURT: A driver who failed to stop after a crash in a car park and then did not report the incident to police has been fined £200.

Jamie Hunt, 39, of Arnfield Moor in Liden, was involved in a collision with another vehicle in Sanctuary Housing car park on September 24 last year.

Five points were added to his licence and he must pay £85 in costs plus £30 to victim services.
