FOLK singer Talis Kimberley will bring a collection of songs inspired by nature and wildlife to a performance at the Richard Jefferies Museum on Sunday afternoon.

The concert is part of the Swindon museum’s free Sunday afternoon Culture and Cream Tea series, which runs throughout the summer.

Come and enjoy Talis’s music in the picturesque setting of the museum and gardens from 3pm.

“My current songwriting is very much inspired by gardens and wildlife and the folklore thereof, and our relationships with them,” Talis said.

“I’m starting to see how they fit together to make a project, but this Sunday’s gig is just a taster of that project, with some other songs of mine, and a mini-set with Chantelle Smith, who sings warp to my weft.”

Talis will also be debuting a song inspired by the popular children’s book The Lost Words, written by Rob MacFarlane and illustrated by Jackie Morris.

They created the sumptuously illustrated book as a response to words such as bluebell and acorn disappearing from the OUP’s Junior Dictionary.

As well as nature, expect books, knitting and whimsy to feature, so she advises you should bring your joining-in voice for the shanties, bring your knitting, and bring an open heart.

Cream teas and refreshments will be available to buy in the museum’s tea room.
