A SERVICE was held at Holy Trinity Church in Dilton Marsh to celebrate the completion of the inner glass porch, 20 years after the project was first thought of.

The porch was designed to blend in with the architecture of the building, featuring straight lined columns and zigzag bricks.

Jocelyn Short, who has attended the church for over 20 years, said: one of the church members when the idea of making the church more welcoming was thought of over 20 years ago was thrilled to be part of the celebrations.

She said: “It was wonderful to see the welcoming glass doors in place at last.”

Rev Caroline Husband presided at the celebration, and Rev Rhona Floate, priest-in-charge, gave the porch a blessing.

Celebratory drinks and cakes followed the service.

In blessing the completion of the works, Rev Floate thanked all those involved over the years, in particular Chris Hill, for project managing and the members of the Parochial Church Council.
