FARMING was within touching distance for children at the weekend as Temple Farm threw its doors open and hosted a family day to show the community what being a farmer is all about.
There were trailer rides throughout the day offering tours of the farmland that is part of the Co-op Beef Farming Group.
Farmer John Jacques welcomed over 2,200 guests into his work space as a mini farmer market was set up offering local produce and plants on sale.
Olivia Nicholson, Co-op agricultural manager, said: “We are delighted to be taking part in Open Farm Sunday, which is all about celebrating great British farming and food.
“This free event gives the local community a unique ‘behind the scenes’ look at what our farmers do and showcase their role within the farming industry and as a supplier of quality British produce.”
The annual community countryside event, has seen two million people visit a farm since it launched in 2006.
