TACKLING Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon in 24 hours is never a walk in the park but when nine intrepid explorers set out in 26 degree heat, they knew their challenge would be gruelling.

Mums and teachers from Great Bedwyn School completed hours of training for the Three Peaks challenge to raise cash for Dementia UK and school funds.

The group set out to climb Ben Nevis on May 29 at 6am, carrying an extra four litres of water, before climbing Scafell Pike and finally reaching Snowdon at 3am, finishing their mission 24 hours after they began.

Mum Fi Johnstone said: “Nothing could have prepared us for the terrain. Unless you actually climb them there is no training you can do. It has been surreal, when we got back it almost felt as if we hadn’t ever done it but then we had an assembly and the children were really proud of us all. It was so emotional. We would get back to the minibus feeling rubbish from the climb and then to receive the text messages from our friends and family gave us a massive lift.” Over £6,000 has been raised by the team.
