The Tuppenny, a specialist purveyor of craft drinks, and a veritable emporium of brewed, distilled and fermented beverages, is branching out with a new organic food pop-up, courtesy of Helen Browning’s Chop House.

Prepared and cooked in Wood Street, then delivered fresh to the table at the Tuppenny in Devizes Road, this collaboration takes the classic beef burger, pulled pork burger, ribs and Chop House special hot dogs to customers enjoying a drink and get-together at the Tuppenny. The beef burger is 100 per cent ground organic beef with a sprinkle of seasoning, while the ribs are slow cooked, served with BBQ or Cajun sauce. The pulled pork burger is served in a bun, with slaw. And if you are a vegetarian or vegan, tuck in to a spicy chickpea, lentil and bean burger.

Every item on the menu is organic, and gluten-free options are available too.

After a couple of trial days, the Helen Browning’s Chop House pop-up is now fully up and running at Tuppenny.

The pork and beef comes from animals born and raised on Helen’s acclaimed organic Eastbrook and Lower Farm just six miles away from Swindon on the Wiltshire/Oxfordshire border. Helen took over the farm in 1986 and decided to experiment with organic farming, growing good quality crops and animals, while maintaining high welfare standards for her animals and making more space for nature too.

Tuppenny say they stock the largest and best range of craft beer on tap and in the fridges that you will find in Old Town, alongside the best quality spirits available, served as they come or crafted into classic cocktails. The venue has a distinctive cosy charm, featuring re-purposed and up-cycled furniture, as well as board-games and some old-school reading material for customers.

The venue regularly features original grassroots and underground live music and hosts the monthly Swindon Shuffle Music Quiz as well as a range of other arts events, brewery talks and tap-takeovers. It opened its doors for the first time in November 2016.

The pop-up is open between 6pm and 9pm Tuesdays to Saturdays, with lunches also available between 12 and 2pm on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
