A MOTORCYCLIST has died after a crash involving a car in Penhill.

He was riding along Penhill Drive yesterday evening when a white Peugeot 208 pulled out at a junction on Durnford Road.

The 28-year-old motorcyclist, who was a local man, sustained multipl,e injuries and died at the scene. Officers arrested the 24-year-old driver of the car and took him to Gablecross Police Station where inquiries into the crash continue.

Penhill Drive was closed for four hours while collision investigators examined the scene and the vehicles were recovered. The motorcycle involved in the crash was a black and red Aprilla motorbike and approached Penhill Drive from Grafton Road.

Police are appealing for witnesses following the incident which happened at around 8.00 pm. Anyone with information can call PC David Williams in the roads policing unit on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
