POLICE stopped more than a hundred vehicles as part of a town-wide crackdown on drink drivers.
Officers from across Swindon were involved in the operation, including constables, PCSOs and special constables.
They set up positions on County Road, Wootton Bassett Road, Marlborough Road and Thamesdown Drive on Monday evening. Officers pulled over drivers to carry out routine breathalyser tests.
A total of 101 vehicles were stopped and 17 drivers breathalysed. Wiltshire Police said they dealt with nine driving offences, although no arrests were made.
PC Mason Johnson of the Swindon South Community Policing Team said: “This was a pre-planned operation designed to raise awareness about the dangers of drink and drug driving and educate motorists about the action police will take to crack down on this dangerous behaviour.”
He thanked drivers for their cooperation.
