PEOPLE across Wiltshire will salute its past and present military heroes when the Wiltshire Armed Forces extravaganza takes place this weekend.

Trowbridge Town Park will be full of parades, rifle displays, military drills, bands, choirs, vehicle displays, skirmishes, a static Spitfire, a First World War tank, living history groups and a flypast on Saturday and Sunday.

Proceedings on the Saturday will get underway with an opening ceremony at the bandstand at 10am and that will be followed by the likes of Steeple Rocks Choir, Trowbridge Air Cadet drills, uniform displays, Wessex Military Band, Infinity Dance and Stagecoach on both the top and bottom field.

There will also be rides, all sorts of children’s attractions, balloon modellers, classic cars on show, a big Scalextric and a vast array of stalls.

Trowbridge’s Toby Carvery is once again supporting the troops ahead of Armed Forces Weekend by offering military personnel a free meal on Saturday.

As a thank you to all the service men and women from the Army, Navy and RAF, Toby Carvery, Cradle Bridge Retail Park, has put out this offer to troops, reserves, veterans and cadets.

Martin Gosling, brand operations director for Toby Carvery, said: “This is the third year we’ve gifted free meals on Armed Forces Day, and each year we are overwhelmed by the response. For Toby Carvery having the opportunity to thank our heroes is so important to us.

“Our partnership with The Royal British Legion means we can continue to support the armed forces throughout the year, recognising all that they do for the country at home and abroad.”

There will be free parking in the car parks at Broad Street, Bradford Road, Church Street, which will be reserved for Blue Badge holders, and Lovemead.
