FIREFIGHTERS are cycling from Devizes to its twin town of Mayenne in France to raise money for The Firefighters Charity and the Motor
Neurone Disease Association.
Firefighters Mike Cleaver, Richard Lake, Andy Olsen, Tom Brolan and Pete Eastland, along with team members Stuart King and Danyl Scott, will leave Devizes on July 11 to cycle to Portsmouth where they will take the overnight ferry to St Malo.
Here they will be joined by fellow firefighter Iain Taylor, before continuing to Mayenne.
Mr Cleaver said: “We’re all keen cyclists and many of us have taken on various distance challenges to raise money for charity in the past.
“We’re supporting the Motor Neurone Disease Association and the Fire Fighters Charity, as both have given direct support to team members and their families.
“We hope to raise a lot of money, but also some awareness, so that other people might show them support as well.”
The group also organised a car wash in aid of their charities on Saturday, which raised a total of £661.24. The group have currently raised 53% of their £2,500 target.
