WITH its bug eyes, long nose and furry limbs, it could be something from the latest horror movie... but in fact, this little critter is an acorn nut weevil and the subject of our Camera Club Picture of the Month for June.

It was taken by Rory Lewis, 40, a dad of two from Badbury Park, who only joined the Camera Club a couple of months ago on the recommendation of a friend. He wins £50 of Love to Shop vouchers as his prize.

The stunning macro image was taken in Savernake Forest, one of Rory favourite locations.

"I like going to places where you can get away from humanity - it needs to be still, with no people around, or the insects will be scared off," said Rory, who works as a business manager for Ford.

"I guess that's part of the attraction! It's good for the soul."

Rory got interested in macro a couple of years ago, progressing from flowers to insects quickly.

"I found the flowers more interesting when they had something else in them, like a butterfly or a bee. So the pictures started to get more and more extreme," he said.

"I like insects because people's first reaction to them is generally 'ugh!, that they hate little bugs scurrying about. I am trying to change that reaction, by making them interesting and colourful."
