OAK and Furrows Wildlife Rescue Centre is appealing for funds to help rehome animals and birds leaving Calne Rescue Centre, which closed its doors last Friday.
The centre, based in Cricklade, has set up a Justgiving page to raise funds for new enclosures for birds coming over from Calne, which isn’t taking any new arrivals but continuing to care for animals already there.
John Bennett, general manager at Oak and Furrows Rescue Centre, said: “We don’t know how many animals we’re going to have to take. We’ll have to deal with them and move things around depending on what we get coming in. We’re pretty stretched to the limits at the moment."
The centre has already come under more pressure with other wildlife centres in Wiltshire closing down. “It’s a decrease in the number of places that take them in, our catchment area is getting bigger and bigger," said John. "June has been absolutely crazy."
