CAR wash owner Gent Jakupi has promised to replace a pensioner's sat nav after she staged a sit down protest at his premises in Devizes.

Mrs Hynes, 72, says that when she first spoke to staff at the car wash in New Park Street her complaints fell on deaf ears so she parked her car across the entrance.

She said: "I paid £12 for the inside and outside of may car to be cleaned but when I went to get inside I realised the sat nav had been knocked to the floor and was broken.

"When I went back into the office they claimed not to understand what I was saying and said the owner was away."

Mrs Hynes then parked her car across the entrance to the car wash. She said: "They came out and ordered me to move." She then reported the matter to police but was told it was a civil matter.

She returned on Monday to try again to speak to staff but got nowhere so she held a sit down protest in the office.

But after the Gazette became involved Mr Jakupi, who is abroad on business, said he was sorry for the way Mrs Hynes was treated. He said: "I will pay for a replacement. I don't know exactly what happened but we want our customers to be happy."
