WORLD cup fever gave pupils at Kennet Valley School the chance to learn about flags from all over the world as pupils had their faces painted with the St Georges flag while sporting football kits to watch England play.

As well as watching the nail biting semi final match, children held their own mini football tournament, learnt about flags and found out about the stadium in which the game was held in.

Many pupils from the school play for local and county teams including Marlborough Youth Football club, Calne Football Club and Wiltshire and Swindon Girls Clubs. From September every pupils will spend 10 minutes running around the play ground at the beginning of the day following from the national mile a day initiative.

Emma Russell, headteacher said: "It's always a great feeling when our whole school comes together in a shared activity. We take sport very seriously at Kennet Valley School no mater what the pupil's ability is and each week we walk up for a whole school PE session at the Kennet Valley Hall field which is always great fun.

"This has enabled our pupils to run further and faster and really develop their stamina and physical ability. I am delighted that our small school has such a good local reputation for sporting success and team spirit.”
