The John Bentley School in Calne had another impressive set of GCSE results this year with more than a third of students scoring 10 or more passes at C grade or above.

In addition to the GCSE results, students studying on the new BTec courses also performed well.

Head Gordon Trafford said: "I am pleased with another set of good results - significant numbers of students have, once again, an excellent basis for further progress, both in our sixth form and beyond."

Corsham School is celebrating another GCSE success story.

The number of students who achieved grades A* - C this year is the same as last year at 66 per cent.

The school has also been awarded specialist status as an arts school and all pupils taking the subject achieved a C grade or above.

Assistant head teacher Marcus Chapman said: "We're delighted it represents the efforts of pupils and staff this year."

Among the high achievers was 16-year-old Sarah Haggarty who scored five A* grades and four As.

She said: "I'm absolutely ecstatic, my parents are pretty much over the moon. This will help me decide what I want to do with the future."
