The Upper Stratton Baptist Church Kids Club and Stratton Camera Club were presented with cheques by Stratton St Margaret parish councillors.

A representative from the kids club said: "We had £10 left to see us through the summer, so I'm very grateful for this"

A representative from the camera club said: "We appreciate this no end, we've had a bit of a struggle this year and this will help us out a lot."

During the same meeting, councillors decided not to renew the £1,000 advertising for the parish council on a sign placed on the White Hart Roundabout.

Two councillors mentioned that, despite living in the area for years and using the roundabout regularly, they had never noticed the sign and suggested it wasn't worth paying for.

The centenary celebrations for the end of World War One were also discussed.

There will be a community tree-planting on the field adjacent to the rugby field from 10am to 12pm.

A peace memorial on Ermin Street and a ceremony at St Margaret's Church will take place in the afternoon.

Residents will also be encouraged to make white doves and knit red poppies.
