A burglar with 99 previous offences on his record has been sent back to prison.

Nigel John Perren, 44, of no fixed address, admitted entering a flat on Station Road in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

He was filmed outside the home discussing the break-in with another woman, who is due to appear before Swindon Magistrates Court on September 26.

But the hapless pair were said to have been recorded on the camera microphone.

Prosecutor Keith Ballinger told magistrates: “He said in interview he hadn’t been in the address and his fingerprints weren’t found there.”

Items taken from the house, including a games console, video games and bottles of alcohol, were recovered by police.

Despite this, Perren pleaded guilty to burglary when he appeared before magistrates. Because the offence was committed while he was out from prison on licence, the bench remanded him in custody.

Magistrates said the offence was so serious he would be sentenced at Swindon Crown Court at a date yet to be fixed.

Sentencing guidelines suggests Perren faces a jail term of at least a year, magistrates heard.
