JANE Davies has been left exasperated by piles of rubbish piling up behind her home in Trinity Street.

Her house backs onto Waverley Place, where a variety of refuse, including rotting leaves and branches, pieces of wood and household waste gets dumped.

Some gets collected but a lot gets left and some of it has been there for three to four weeks.

Mrs Davies says she just wants the rubbish removed as it's become an eyesore.

She has complained to the council on several occasions and has asked them to take it away.

"It's becoming a tip. I was told to put garden rubbish at the collecting point in brown bags, but when the refuse men came last week, they left it," she said. She was then told that there is no garden refuse collection for her area, which means she's expected to take the bags to the refuse tip herself.

This is impossible as she finds it hard to get around and walks with a stick.

A spokeswoman for Salisbury district council said: "This area has, in recent months, suffered from the unauthorised dumping of waste and this has been brought to our attention by local residents.

"We are monitoring and investigating the situation to establish where the waste is coming from so that we can take preventative measures.

"However, the area has been cleared and our efforts to solve the problem will continue.

"Any information local residents can give us to help identify the sources of the problem would be appreciated."
